The Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Bluegrass is fortunate that many individuals, businesses, groups and partnering organizations host special events throughout the year to support the children and families that need to stay at our House or Family Room.

If you are interested in hosting an independent fundraising event or creating a special way to fundraise for RMHC at your business, school, organization or church you need to first decide whether you want to create a traditional, community based event or if you are more interested in casting a wider net and taking your fundraising efforts online.

I want to create a community based fundraiser!

How do I promote my community based fundraiser? Community based fundraisers are a great way to increase the awareness and support of RMHC right in our own community in a fun and social way. What better way to rally around a favorite cause than bringing lots of your friends and family together? As part of the planning process, please complete this application or email Chelsi McDonald our Director of Development and Communications for more information on how to get started. Applications submitted at least 60 days in advance will be featured on our website and included in our online fundraising event calendar.

This depends on what kind of event you are throwing. Posters, flyers, personalized invitations, e-mails, newsletters, websites, and inclusion in social media are all great avenues for getting the word out. Let everybody you know why this fundraiser is important to you and then encourage them to get in on the action to help benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Bluegrass.

Remember:  Before you print anything, you will need to contact Chelsi McDonald to get permission & approval to use the official RMHC of the Bluegrass logo.

Tips for a Success
1.) Pick a good location. If event is held outside, be sure to provide protection from bad weather.
2.) Have some rules for your own group.
3.) Make sure what your doing is LEGAL!
4.) Calculate any costs you might have in advance.
5.) Pick your date wisely. Plan on a date when no other events are happening, that way there is no competition between yours and another event that day.
6.) Have name tags and signage so that your name and the event name can always be seen.
7.) And, of course, remember to say “Thank You!”

Not sure that organizing and hosting a community based fundraiser is right for you?

That’s okay! Taking your fundraiser online is an easy and affective way to raise money for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Bluegrass!

Whether you want to honor RMHC with a gift to celebrate a birthday, raise awareness through reaching a goal (like running a marathon or embarking on a cross-country motorcycle trip), are a family who has ever used the services of our House, or a philanthropic individual or group looking to make a big difference in the lives of many we will give you the tools and support that you need to create your own fully customizable fundraising page.

We invite you to join us in our online Share-a-Night Campaign. To stay at our House, families are asked to pay $10 per night. The actual cost to us is much higher. For some families, even the $10 request is a financial hardship. Our House never turns a family away because of inability to pay. Consequently, we depend on your gifts to our “Share-a-Night” fund to cover the costs of those families who cannot pay. You’ll rest easy when you bring your group, school or workplace together to see how many restful nights you can pay for.
